We help organizations organize responsibilities, methods and traceable evidence for green bonds and loans, use of proceeds, eligible projects, taxonomies and reporting.
Service classification and standard position
Validation and verification (V&V)
The ISO 14030 series focuses on green debt instruments, including green bonds, green loans, taxonomies and verification programs. It is not a generic ESG disclosure standard covering every financial product.
Who should consider this and when
Suitable for organizations establishing sustainable finance information processes, responding to customer requirements or preparing for external review. Confirm the purpose, organizational role, sites and reporting scope before selecting criteria.
Advisory focus
- Green bonds and loans: identify responsible owners, source data, methods and review records.
- Use of proceeds: connect allocated funds with documented categories and eligible activities.
- Eligible projects: record screening criteria, project evidence and decision responsibilities.
- Taxonomies and reporting: document the applicable taxonomy, reporting method and supporting evidence.
Support approach
- Confirm scope and criteria: discuss purpose, applicable edition, boundaries and stakeholder requirements; record assumptions and exclusions.
- Review current state and gaps: examine instrument terms, proceeds allocation, eligible projects, taxonomy alignment and reporting records.
- Prepare documents and pilot: organize procedures, forms and an evidence index, then test the process on a real financing case.
- Simulate review and improve: check consistency and evidence sufficiency against agreed criteria. Confirm any independent third-party provider and scope separately.
Information to prepare
- Organization, financing instrument, intended use and relevant reporting scope.
- Bond or loan documents, proceeds records, project lists, screening criteria and existing procedures.
- Customer, regulatory or program requirements and previous audit or review findings.
- Responsible departments, available staff, data gaps and target schedule.
Possible deliverables
Depending on scope: a gap list, work procedures, responsibility assignments, record forms, evidence index and improvement tracking. Technical reports and independent review are agreed separately at project start.
Timing and fees
Assessment depends on the number and type of instruments, data quality, project complexity and review scope. Existing information is reviewed first, then deliverables, resources and milestones are agreed.
Frequently asked questions
Does advisory support mean a certificate or assurance statement will be issued?
Advisory support helps prepare systems and evidence. A certificate, verification or validation opinion is decided by a qualified and independent body under the applicable program. This standard does not itself make every financial product an eligible green instrument.
Must an existing system be rewritten?
First check whether existing procedures and evidence remain applicable. Retain effective practices and revise identified gaps.
