AI development and human rights
The rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI), particularly the rise of generative AI in 2022, has accelerated changes in how society operates and how people live. This wave creates significant opportunities for innovation while also bringing human rights risks that cannot be ignored.
Taiwan must advance human rights protection and sustainable development alongside AI. Technological progress should not come at the cost of equality and dignity. Based on relevant international human rights conventions, this opinion reviews AI's human rights impacts and combines international trends with local observations to make governance recommendations.
